Lizzie tries to make Dreams Come True..
Helloo!
Firstly, thankyou for making that first little step of looking at my page. I've never done this before, and I think I've only donated a couple of times in the past myself, and actually you might not have heard from me for a while and here I am asking for money BUT now you're here you might as well leave a little donation. I mean, you've come this far now... But before you do let me tell you what cause you (might just) be donating to. As you may or may not know I'm off to Thailand in a couple of weeks and for 2 weeks while I'm there I will be volunteering at an orphanage in the Chiang Mai mountains. The organisation I'm going with is called Dreams Can Come True (dcct) and as it's a relatively new charity it's very low on funds, as you would expect, and has suggested that us volunteers could raise some money. I hadn't thought about what to do previously but if I could raise some money before I go, which is in 2 weeks and give them a chunk when I arrive it'd be so good! The orphanage is in a Buddist monastery, opened by the head monk and has 800 abandoned and orphaned children. The project is to educate the children in the arts and other skills that they haven't been exposed to before. Most of the children are from the nearby hill-tribes. These kids have very little and one of the things we're hoping to do with them is to take them on a day trip to an Elephant Sanctuary. This is what we need the money for primarily. It sounds bizarre but these Elephants PAINT pictures with their trunks, geuninely with their trunks, which are then in turn auctioned off. An opportunity to show the kids this would be great. Your money will go a long way. And I'd appreciate even a £1 each. Just think, if you all gave just £1, OBVIOUSLY feel free to give more, but from you poor student types if you all just gave a £1 it'd be grand. Anyway, enough now. I hope you're all well and I look forward to hearing from you soon... |
